If you work on larger and or collab projects in Inventor, you'll tend to stick clear of direct editing where in it produces a direct edit feature.. Just select the solid and edit the existing feature / make a new one.

I am trying to make a stock for a rifle and I just having a time trying to modify qa file I downloaded. I was wondering if I could send you the file and basically what I am trying to do and maybe you could get me started on making this addition. If you got a min let me know. Again I appreciate it!!

Why did you copy and paste the contents of the displayed .DAT file into a notepad when 'save as' would save the .DAT file ready to go? Unnecessary to do that.

This video was great at explaining how to constrain holes... I have a situation which I could use your help. I have a hole #1 on the base Sketch and hole #2 on construction plain about 10mm above hole #1. How can I get hole #2 to align and constrain with the center of hole #1?

Hi, I'm unable to snap the starting point of the line as shown at 6:59. I made the offset at 13mm corresponding to the inner edge of the box. So I don't understand how I can now select the edge of the lid as shown in your video which is at 17mm from the centre line.

I guess I'll have to ask Lars, NOT LIVE 🙂 Lars, our shop has been using F360 sheet metal tool for over a year now and we still cannot seem to bring a correct thickness to the sheet metal part which would be reflected correctly in a manufacturing drawing. Any tip to getting the proper thickness to a sheet metal part? Attempting to extrude the flat panel areas just seem to overrun the radius's where the bends are. Stumped. We've learned a lot from your instructional videos. Thank you so much.

I'm using the patches to cover up features in order to get CAM to cut properly. Ex: roughing that doesn't follow every dip and curve. Sometimes it treats the patches as part of the model, other times it treats them as part of the stock. I've spent hours trying to figure out why. If anyone can tell me how I can select, how fusion treats the patch(as part of the model or part of the stock) I'd be very grateful!

So your telling me that sweep command to do custom thread profiles has been messed up since you made this video 7 years ago. It does not work properly. The new profile body has many facets and when measured to the center of the coil or sweep it will measure different throughout. Why can you not sweep to the path and get a uniform consistent body like the coil itself?

Lars I just watched your how to get started with CAM Tutorial and although there is an emphasis on engineering in it? I wondered if you could please do a tutorial on a guitar neck we are having problems with incremental cuts I'm trying to get it to step down .5mm on each pass on contouring the back of the neck and failing miserably. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Can you please give me suggestions for taking printout on A4 size paper with accurate measurement because i don't have cutting machine. I just want to cut all the things using grinder machine or Scissor ✂️ by sticking that A4 paper to the metal sheet.

I have an infuriating issue. I have a motor with a shaft, and a drill chuck. Why am I having such difficulty specifying the distance away from the motor? I seem to be only able to align the chuck to the motor case end being too close, or to the end of the motor shaft, too far away. HELP edit: I think I figured it out. You have to zoom WAY in, and then fusion will show you points with tiny origin snaps. From there, you can specify offsets. Here's a head scratcher. The placed origin for the joint is in now way aligned with the assembly, nor the component coordinate systems, so be VERY careful when you click to select the origin of the joints. It will show you colors, so that Z offset is not in accordance to any other coordinate system! Click makes the small axis disappear, so you'll just have to play with the offsets to figure it out.
